Documentary Final

finally made my onigiri (took long enough) with a little mould I got 
with my mom in L.A. 
with umeboshi plum inside, amazing beefsteak plant seasoning (also L.A.) and toasted 
white sesame. so good.
brown rice next time though. 


then I accidentally downloaded this picture off my phone
It's my favorite spot in Chicago to escape (I do a lot of escaping and shutting in here)
one of two gardens adjacent to the museum, both are so beautiful

I like this one because it's like a shelter- and less people are in it

this one from strips of sheer fabric, plastic bags, copper wire and white threads
it feels powerful
I have a relationship of trust with it that I usually can't establish with things I make


Also I bought a Binchotan charcoal tooth brush
(from Merz Apothecary, maybe my favorite place in Chicago)

so it wasn't all lost, as I had feared

also some old silk from another lost project, it always
makes an appearance .

Araki: Chiro My Love

I just bought this book, a photographic essay I wish I had done

I have looked at these pictures over and over again

they make me cry every time. I think it has to do with the ideas of animism

that the Japanese have. their spirituality toward animals/inanimates

Apparently in the painting salons in Europe there was a hierarchy of subject matter

which determined how valuable a painting was

1. History/Mythology/Religion

2. Portraiture

3. Genre Painting (Life Scenes)

4. Landscape

5. Animal Painting

6. Still Life

To me this is so wrong.

Humans are

totally dependent

on objects, landscapes

and animals
